"The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams."

Never limit yourself because of others' limited imagination; never limit others because of your own limited imagination.

It's My World!
It's My World is about living our lives trying to balance two diametrically different cultures trying to emulate the best of both as it pertains to our lives.
The focus is going to be South Asian women living away from our homeland, away from the comfort of our family and traditions trying our best to make sense of new traditions, new rules, a totally new way of life. It can be very exciting but at the same time very nerve racking. It is possible to be lonely in a crowd, have the silence beating down on you in the midst of cacophony, be hungry even if you are surrounded by food, all because you miss life as it was, the comfort of routine, of knowing where you belonged.
Assimilation takes on a whole new meaning and becomes the bane of our lives in our adopted country. Assimilation does not mean losing our cultural roots. Sometimes in the process of doing so we tend to lose ourselves, our identity and our sense of who we are. Maybe we try too hard. The idea of starting from scratch can be unnerving and nerve racking, yet exciting and bursting with opportunities.
All of us have our own unique perspective on life. South Asian women are a study in contrast. Tech savvy, yet traditional, open minded , yet religious, docile yet a force to be reckoned with, humble yet proud of our heritage, adapts herself to any situation yet retains her uniqueness, is vulnerable yet strong, puts herself last.
So ladies let us create this wonderful and fun place where we can share, commiserate, empower, help, learn and most importantly know that it is OK to be human and have faults!
Ideally this page will become your buddy, your comfort zone. Looking forward to hearing from you.
Cheers!
